Pattern is an exploration into the relationship between the brain and visual imagery and the psychological effects of different types of imagery on human beings. Visual imagery is often used to combat anxiety, depression, and stress in a method of therapy known as mindfulness. Inspired by the practice of mindfulness and visuals in art and religion used for healing purposes, I endeavored to create imagery that could be used as a tool against negative emotions. These colorful photographs of patterns are the product of a long process of experimentation in which the experience of trial and error became an exercise in mindfulness in itself.
